Join Dr. Naamit Kurshan Geber for an afternoon of learning, in memory of Shira Palmer Sherman.

There are two women named Devorah in tanakh: one was a famous prophet, the other a nursemaid almost lost to history. They seem to have little in common but their name. We will explore midrashim discussing these two individuals and what those midrashim teach about the role of women in Judaism.

Dr. Naamit Kurshan Gerber is a doctor and associate professor in the radiation oncology department of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where she serves as the director of the residency program in radiation oncology. She is the co-director of the breast and hematologic malignancy disease management group. Naamit received her MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed her residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She treats breast cancer and lymphoma and serves as the principal investigator for clinical trials regarding the treatment of breast cancer and hematologic malignancies. She serves as a senior editor of Practical Radiation Oncology.
