VirtuShul

Most of our programs and services have moved to VirtuShul, our virtual shul—a living, connected, loving, virtual community. VirtuShul is powered by Zoom video conferencing software, making our community accessible from every home with an internet connection. We have been moved by how Zoom has allowed so many to gather together for morning and evening minyan, for meetings, programs, and private appointments.

The incredible BJ staff has reimagined much of the programming that was already planned for this year, and imagined new ways to nourish our souls and stay connected even while we are physically distant. The many online programs include Kadima@BJ, Morning Coffee Klatsch, Bedtime Story and Shema, and so much more.

A Guide to Using Zoom

We know we are better together than separate. Though we are physically distant, our sacred community is strengthened through each shared experience—even if shared through technology. We hope you can build these experiences into your new daily routines.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience the proximity of community over Zoom, we encourage you to participate in the coming days. We understand the transition to a virtual experience can be challenging for some members. Please click here if you are experiencing any trouble with setting up Zoom on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Shabbat Services

Join us on Fridays at 6:30PM for Kabbalat Shabbat via our Livestream and the B’nai Jeshurun Facebook Page. Zoom is available for members.

On Shabbat morning, services will begin at 9:30AM via our Livestream and the B’nai Jeshurun Facebook Page. This will be led from the Sanctuary, with no members present. Shabbat Morning Services will also be available on Zoom for members only, via the same link as Kabbalat Shabbat. Family Shabbat Morning Services will be offered at the Family Life & Learning Facebook page

*Please note, in the absence of a Zoom virtual minyan, Shabbat morning services will not include a traditional Mourner’s Kaddish. Please click here for the alternative to mourner’s kaddish.

To conclude Shabbat, join us in virtual community with havdalah followed by ma’ariv. Please click here for a list of upcoming start times.

We invite you to reference these Supplemental Texts for Shabbat, used during our Shabbat services.

Prayer at Home

Through our morning and evening minyanim, there are opportunities each day to gather in virtual community, maintain a spiritual practice, while supporting those in our midst who are saying Kaddish. We invite you to visit our Calendar of Services to learn about the specific times of upcoming minyanim.

If you would like to follow along with our services from home, please visit our Prayer at Home page, which includes links to the minyanim and to at-home prayer resources.

Family Life and Learning

With the support of our educators and staff, we have moved all Family Life and Learning events to VirtuShul. From Bim Bam, to Kadima@BJ, to our virtual teen hangouts, we have something for families with children of all ages.

COVID-19 Updates

With new information regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its presence in New York City and within the NYC Jewish community emerging by the hour, you will find all of our latest updates here including health and safety protocols and potential changes to programs and services.
