Lisa Mednick-Owen

Biography

Lisa and her husband Steve have been members of BJ since 1995, and their sons Alex and Teddy grew up attending its Hebrew School and teen programs. Lisa has been involved in various committees and initiatives at BJ, including the Hebrew School Advisory Board. She is currently on the Leadership Team of the Refugee and Immigration Committee, where her work has included organizing several events for the Synagogue Coalition on the Refugee and Immigration Crisis, including the Fall 2018 Refugee Shabbat, and she currently serves on the Community Engagement Committee of the Board. Lisa has a BA from UC Berkeley, a law degree from George Washington University, and certificates from NYU in Arts Administration and Fundraising & Development. She has been a member of several boards and leadership councils in the education, arts, and social justice fields, and just completed her term on the Board of the Jewish Women’s Archive. Lisa is also a docent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she gives tours to school groups.  One of her current projects is learning how to give tours of the Met to school groups virtually.
