Biography

Cantor David Mintz is the Director of the Center for Prayer and Spirituality at B’nai Jeshurun, fusing a multi-dimensional prayer practice together with transformative initiatives, immersive experiences, and eclectic musical programming. Previously, he was the cantor of Touro Synagogue in New Orleans, where he served as a thought leader, bringing innovation to spiritual practice, shaping a culture of communal singing, and strengthening lifelong learning. David received ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where he was in the cantorial cohort of the Tisch Rabbinic Fellowship. David was a 2013 recipient of the Fischl-Kohn Memorial Grant to travel to Prague with the Defiant Requiem Foundation, researching the music of Theresienstadt. This work would later become the subject of his masters thesis, Voices of Spiritual Resistance: Music of the Terezín Ghetto. He lives in on the Upper West Side with his wife, Deborah, and their son, Nadav.
