Family Life and Learning: Kadima@BJ Covid-19 Policy Updates

As a Jewish community, we learn that Pikuah Nefesh, the principle that we value human life, supersedes everything else in Jewish law. With the approval from the FDA of the Emergency Use Authorization of the Pzifer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11, we will be extending our vaccination requirements to that age group. All students will have to be fully vaccinated (two shots + two weeks) by January 3, 2022 to attend Kadima in person. Additionally, beginning Monday, January 3, 2022, all campus access for those 5 years and older will be limited to those who can verify full and current vaccination at that time. This includes those newly vaccinated, and also the expectation that folks have received booster shots in a timely manner as prescribed by the CDC.

Children who are enrolled in Kadima@BJ will be required to have proof of vaccination on file, parents of children enroled in Kadima can submit child/ren’s proof of vaccination here.

For now, we will keep all COVID-19 protocols for Kadima in place, including masking requirements, distancing, classroom capacity limits, and health forms. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 case numbers and the vaccination rate in New York City, and will re-evaluate our protocols as needed.

For those who were unable to join the session live, you can view and share “From the Experts: What to Know About the COVID-19 Vaccine for Children” with Dr. Nemetski, a pediatric emergency medicine attending physician.

We are so thankful to have our BJ families as our partners on this sacred journey and for trusting us to ensure that our children will feel socially and spiritually connected and taken care of throughout this school year together. We continue to work hard to create an environment where our families can be active Jewish participants in our current world while remaining safe and healthy.
