John Ducksworth
Ending Mass Incarceration NY Regional Coordinator
Born in Harlem, USA, Reverend Ducksworth holds degrees in Liberal Arts, Professional Studies, and Public Administration, including a Doctorate of Ministry earned in 2022. In 1985, he began his impactful career with The Salvation Army in East Harlem, NY, later becoming a Salvation Army Officer and serving in various locations.
Reverend Ducksworth has provided leadership in diverse roles, including Court-based programs, Community Corrections, probation, juvenile justice, and social services across multiple states. He is a licensed trainer in Restorative Justice Principles and Practices and currently serves as the Director of the Restorative Justice Project for the Children for Children’s Advocacy.
Reverend Ducksworth is a published author and the recipient of numerous awards. He and his wife, Joan, have two teenage daughters.
Multifaith Initiative to End Mass Incarceration (EMI)
EMI is a national initiative that collaborates with historic institutions like Ebenezer Baptist Church and The Temple in Atlanta, with the aim of harnessing the spiritual, people, and resource power of the U.S. faith community to end mass incarceration. Focused on catalyzing a faith-rooted response, EMI adds value to existing work and promotes coherence in faith-rooted efforts. EMI holds the vision for multifaith communities to exercise and amplify their calls and actions for eliminating mass incarceration in a dedicated, savvy, and impactful manner.
