Loving Our Own Bones: Book Talk with Julia Watts Belser
Join us for a lively conversation between Julia Watts Belser and Judith Plaskow about Julia’s important new book Loving Our Own Bones: Disability Wisdom and the Spiritual Subversiveness of Knowing Ourselves Whole. The book’s powerful insights into disability, ableism, and Jewish texts through a disability lens can provide a strong foundation for discussion of disability at BJ.
Judith Plaskow is professor emerita of religious studies at Manhattan College and a Jewish feminist theologian. A longtime Jewish feminist activist, she has been writing and speaking about Jewish feminism since the early 1970s. Co-founder and for many years co-editor of the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, she is author or editor of several works in feminist theology, including Standing Again at Sinai and Goddess and God in the World: Conversations in Embodied Theology (coauthored with Carol P. Christ). In March, she will be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
