Children of Abraham Peace Vigil
September 11, 2021, marks 20 years since the attacks and destruction that have come to be known as 9/11. A few days after 9/11 a group of Muslims and Arabs came to meet with a group of Jews in Brooklyn, and from our new connection came the Children of Abraham Peace Walk: Jews, Christians, Muslims, and Other People of Good will Walking Together in Brooklyn in Peace. For 15 years we walked from and to many Brooklyn neighborhoods and perhaps most notably from Brooklyn to downtown Manhattan, near what has come to be called Ground Zero. We walked from, to and into churches, mosques, synagogues, and other faith-based institutions, insisting that our common messages of peace and love for one another must prevail in our broken world.
Twenty years later the world is perhaps even more broken, and our hopeful spirits have taken a hit. But we continue to hope and to insist that relationship, love and solidarity will win the day.
We invite you to join us at a virtual commemoration of 9/11 and all that followed, as well as an honoring of the many activists who have stood up for Muslim and other immigrants, for Black Lives, against anti-Asian hate, and against Islamophobia and antisemitism.
Our line-up of speakers include; Rabbi Arthur Waskow, Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Sunita Viswanath, Adama Bah, Reverend Micah Bucey, Simran Jeet Singh and many more! Performances by Naomi Less & Raza Zia
Hosted by: Dr. Debbie Almontaser, Rabbi Ellen Lippman, and Reverend Tom Martinez: Founders, Children of Abraham Peace Walk
